Beginner’s Telescope Workshop with Dani Long

Have you always wanted to explore the night sky through a telescope but weren’t sure where to begin? Or perhaps you already own a telescope that’s been sitting in the closet because you aren’t quite sure how to use it. This beginner-friendly workshop is the perfect opportunity to build your confidence and get started.
Join experienced stargazer Dani Long for a hands-on introduction to telescope basics. Participants will learn how telescopes work, how to align a finderscope, understand the purpose of different eyepieces, properly care for their equipment, and troubleshoot common setup questions. Because the workshop takes place during the day, you’ll be able to clearly see each part of the telescope as you learn.
Bring your own telescope for personalized guidance, or try one of the telescopes provided during the workshop. Whether you’re new to astronomy or simply looking for a refresher, you’ll leave with practical skills, greater confidence, and a handout featuring recommended celestial objects to observe from Canyons of the Ancients and beyond.
